Miscellaneous Speedcubing Techniques

A lot of cubers use additional techniques or algorithms beyond pure Fridrich.

  • Extended Cross (XCross)
  • Partial/Quick LL edge orientation control
  • COLL (very useful. I recommend everyone who has learned full Fridrich to memorize the easier ones. For now, check Leyan's algorithms.)
  • F2Lc+LLCO

    Partial LL edge orientation control

    After making the last corner-edge pair on U layer, you can use these algorithms to avoid correcting the last layer edge orientation all together and go straight into COLL. I don't use these all the time, but only sometimes, just to avoid OLL cases with 4 incorrectly oriented edges, which are usually long. This might also be a good way to do 2-step last layer without learning all OLL.
