Single solves don't mean a thing in speedsolving. The fastest "non-lucky" time is almost always from an easy solve.

Former WCA 3x3x3 Speedsolve World Record - 12.11 seconds

I held the World Cubing Association official world record for a 3x3x3 fastest single solve with 12.11 seconds until Jean Pons broke the record at Dutch Open 2005 with his 11.75 seconds. Below is a simulation of that solve, the exact way I solved it at Caltech Spring Tournament on April 3, 2004. Yu can watch a video of the actual attempt at Dan Henage's cubing page.

Scramble (with cross on bottom): BRD2F2RF2UDF2R2L2D'U'R2U2F'L'B2FRU2R'BFU2
Corss: z2y' RFRU'R (the U' was done in a failed attempt to group the first c-e pair.)
1st slot: R'U2R2UR'
2nd slot: DwRU'R'U2F'U'F
3rd slot: L'U'L2UL'
4th slot: UL'UL
OLL: y2FRUR'U'F'
PLL: UyRB'RF2R'BRF2R2

As you can see, although the solve was technically not 'lucky', I was helped by easy arrangement of cross and F2L and also by my fastest case for both OLL and PLL.

Solving Time: 12.11
Total Number of Moves: 43

Former WCA 3x3x3 One-handed World Record - 23.76 seconds

I set this record at Horrace Mann Spring tournament on May 28, 2005 and was also part of the WR mean of 3, 27.56. Ryan Patricio broke both of these with a new world record of 22.05 and mean of 26.73 at Caltech Fall tournament 2005. A big thanks to Ian Winokur, the organizer of Horrace Mann. sVideo of this solve is available on Horace Mann Tournament DVD along with virtually all world/national records broken in that tournament.

Scramble (with cross on bottom): U2L'B2U2F'LR2U2R2B2L2B2LFUB'D2U'BUF'RBR'F
Corss: y2z'U'R'U'R'U'zU2'wyR'D2
1st slot: RU'R'2UR
2nd slot: U'RUR'
3rd slot: U'L'U'L
4th slot: LU'L'D'wR'UR
OLL: UB'RBR'U'R'UR
PLL: UR'FR'B2RF'R'B2R2

I had a rather awkward cross, but everything else turned out amazingly. OLL was a fairly easy one, and PLL was one of my fastest cases for one-hand.

Solving Time: 23.76
Total Number of Moves: 46
